REPORTS TO: Director of Instructional Design

DEPARTMENT: Online Education

STATUS: Full Time, Exempt

NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES SUPERVISED: 0

The Instructional Designer will work with faculty to design, develop and teach media-rich courses that provide a student-centered and authentic online learning experience for students at The Los Angeles Film School. The position requires full time in-office hours. Candidates that currently reside in the Orlando area are given the highest consideration.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Work with academic leadership and faculty to design and implement innovative and effective online learning techniques.
  • Work with faculty to create new courses and revise existing courses for online delivery.
  • Coordinate efforts with and report progress to the Director of Instructional Design.
  • Advise and train faculty on the appropriate tools, media, and instructional strategies to achieve course learning objectives.
  • Assist faculty with developing appropriate assessment tools and strategies to align with course learning objectives.
  • Submit and coordinate media asset generation requests to the Media Team.
  • Manage the course development process to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Perform LMS administrative duties such as enrolling faculty in courses and copying course content to new terms.
  • Perform course content quality checks
  • Attend and participate in required departmental meetings.
  • Maintain awareness of Instructional Design trends, techniques, and related software.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or related academic discipline. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in instructional design focused on distance learning, educational technology, preferably within higher education.
  • Excellent communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills, primarily Mac OS based.
  • Strong skills using common Instructional Design software such as ScreenFlow, Camtasia, Keynote, PowerPoint, Google Docs, and other Google Suite software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle creative differences and resolve conflict.
  • Proficiency using LMS software such as Moodle, Campus, Blackboard, etc.
  • Proficiency using common instructional design software tools.
