Assessment Details for Communicator (911 Dispatch)

CLASSIFICATION:                                                    Communicator (911 Emergency Dispatch)

HOURS:                                                                   40 hours weekly, rotating 10 hour shifts

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver license and maintain insurability.
• Must have the ability to maintain composure in an emergency situation and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and direct dispatch personnel and equipment under stressful conditions.
• Must have proficiency with windows-based computer programs.
• Successful completion of the National Testing Network ECOMM Test (NTN)
• Candidate PHQ (NTN)

Preferred:

• Three to six months of related experience
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
• Florida State 911 Telecommunicator certification
• Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) - (NAED)
• Emergency Fire Dispatch (EFD) - (NAED)
• Any applicable/additional certifications through A.P.C.O. or N.E.N.A
• Healthcare Provider – level CPR training
• Foreign language fluency

RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is in the Communications Center and is accountable for receiving 911 emergency calls and computer controlled automatic alarm system information, obtaining information, and dispatching appropriate personnel and equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:   Requires long periods of sitting and ability to work under stressful conditions.

SALARY:  Minimum starting wage rate $18.51 per hour.
