Music Editor

San Antonio Current is seeking a San Antonio-based journalist to fill the role of music editor. We're looking for an experienced writer/editor who has a strong writing voice, broad musical interest and an interest not just in writing reviews but in telling stories about the local music scene.   

Responsibilities will include editing, creating content, analyzing data and responding appropriately, and partnering with internal and external contacts to publish material that is interesting, entertaining, and relevant to the publication’s audience.  The music editor is expected to contribute and edit weekly feature stories, curate work from freelancers and write at least three daily blog posts. The music editor also assists the editorial team with proofing pages and other production-oriented duties. Attention to detail and accuracy is a must.   

The right candidate is familiar with AP style, knows how to work with writers to improve their stories, loves to go out to see live music (going out to see shows is an essential part of the job) and has experience writing for print and online publications.    Applications from candidates who have experience covering subjects other than music are encouraged.
