In our first installment of the OrlandoWorks photo series, we sit down with Brandon Egerton, Program Director of the Recording Arts Degree Program at Full Sail University. Read more to learn about his passion for music and teaching and tips for those who want to pursue a career in music education.

Brandon Egerton has solidified his spot in the music industry. After a decade of supporting developed artists such as Kierra Sheard, Smokie Norful, Bishop TD Jakes, and Tye Tribbett in their pursuit to reach the pinnacles of their music careers, he shifted his focus to guiding and advancing the next generation at Full Sail University as Program Director for the Recording Arts Degree Program. Not to mention, he landed this amazing job at the University by applying here on the Orlando Jobs site!
Egerton elaborates on why he chose to work for Full Sail and what he loves most about his job.
“The appeal of Full Sail to me was the opportunity to make a positive impact on the music industry (and ultimately society at large) through the training and mentoring of the next generation of industry influencers and leaders. We’re not afraid to be different—whether it’s our approach to education, the way we engage the entertainment industry or the way we care for our Full Sail family.”
Egerton's passion for what he does is transparent and is a rendition of his dedication to leading his students to success. He has walked in their shoes to pursue the same dreams.
“I can relate to the dream they have of contributing their talents, skills, and ideas to the industry in some shape or form. I enjoy hearing about those dreams and providing any guidance that I can to help turn those dreams into a reality.”
Egerton’s accomplishments speak for themselves, but he makes it clear that his motive for what he does at Full Sail is way deeper than any tangible trophies or recognition.
“The awards and accolades are nice, but music has the ability to uplift and inspire. I’ve been blessed to be a part of so much music that has done just that, and our successful grads prove that to be true every day. The fact that they get to live out their goals and dreams is what we’re here for.”
Egerton’s willingness to spread his knowledge continues to be a guiding force in the industry, to not only students and musicians but jobseekers. He shares his most prominent piece of advice to those who want to teach music education.
“At Full Sail we are at the unique intersection of education and entertainment, so having a heart to mentor, uplift, and inspire others is a must. The entertainment industry is highly competitive. Our job as an educational institution is to prepare students for this reality—but doing so in a caring way.”
Brandon Egerton's commitment to spreading music's presence in the world and providing a helping hand to the next generation's group of talented musical geniuses to master their craft at Full Sail University is inspirational. His elucidation of what music means to him is compelling, not because of the height of what he's accomplished but the driving force behind why he is who he is today.
