We are a military, multi-mission, maritime force offering a unique blend of military, law enforcement, humanitarian, regulatory, and diplomatic capabilities. These capabilities underpin our three broad roles: maritime safety, maritime security, and maritime stewardship. There are 11 missions that are interwoven within these roles.

The Coast Guard is America's elite maritime armed service and we strive to attract top-performing, motivated women and men to serve in our organization. We are always accepting applications from individuals who meet our qualification standards.

Basic requirements to enter the Coast Guard include but are not limited to:

  • Age (17-31)
  • Education (high school diploma or better)
  • Dependency status
  • Clean police record
  • Be in good medical condition
  • And meet moral and character requirements.
