Senior Designer - Jackets

Position ObjectiveThis position will partner with the Director, Design to develop the overall design direction for the Brand. To direct, build and develop product ideas for apparel and accessories products. The Sr. Designer will work closely with Directors, Merchants and Design Teams to execute Seasonal Concept direction, line plan style needs, margin requirements, and completion of product. Manage Brand Integrity through internal and external Design and Product Development. Continue to evolve White House Black Market's product process. Functional Responsibilities Partner with Director, Design to assist with the development teams interpretation of the overall design direction for the Chico's Brand to the vendor Partner with the Director, Design to utilize CAP/Line Plan to guide development needs and manage overdevelopment Create sketches by category at design ratio and adhere to Line Plan and design ratios for Design Development Samples throughout the process Assist Director, Design with the developing and managing print development process; creating CADs and managing strike-offs Work cross functionally with the Development and Color and Fabric teams to coordinate assortments for presentation through artwork print, fabric, silhouettes, outfit coordination and presentation boards Partner with Trend to create line presentation boards for use at Concept and Development Review Prepare and present seasonal product reviews to Sr. management and merchant teams Coordinate visual boards and samples to drive newness to the Brand Direct the development teams interpretation and communication of creative packages and deadlines to internal and external teams Work with Trend Department to assure Merchants seasonal buying tool needs are met. Ensure timelines on Development Calendar and Line Plan needs are followed Attend all first fits in partnership with Technical Design for styling and aesthetic comments/input Work closely with other Product, Development and Merchant teams to compliment and coordinate process, procedures, and development needs/packages Mentor and train direct reports and vendor design teams to create better understanding of Chico's customer and creative interpretations Manages, develops and educates direct reports. Provides guidance, mentoring/coaching and feedback on direct reports performance Travel as needed to NY, LA, store visits with Merchant RequiredQualifications Bachelor's degree in Design or equivalent 10 plus years'experience in Design within the retail industry (preferably Ready to Wear) 4 year college degree in Design Excellent managerial, organization and leadership skills Excellent verbal and visual communication skills Extensive background in fit, fabric development, finishes and construction details Computer skills a must - Excel / Word (PDM / Micrographx, Adobe Illustrator a plus
