Job Description: Amgen is searching for an Accounting Senior Associate, supporting our Global Property, Plant & Equipment (PP&E), U.S. Leases, U.S. Property Taxes and North America Sales & Use Tax Accounting areas. The Senior Associate will report to the Senior Manager, Accounting, and will work out of the Amgen Capability Center located in Tampa, Florida. This Sr Associate will play a key role in executing on accounting and reporting activities and ensuring compliance in the areas under PP&E, Leases, Property Tax, and Sales & Use Tax. Primary responsibilities will include the following: Preparation of property tax and sales & use tax filings to external agencies Interact and work cross-functionally with a wide range of internal business partners, including FP&A, Global Asset Planning, Global Strategic Sourcing, Corporate Tax, Disbursements, and provide accounting support and guidance as required Preparation or review and approval of financial schedules such as footnote disclosures, close reporting deliverables, and providing support for other ad hoc schedules, as needed Provide audit support to internal and external auditors and mange financial and SOX audits Take initiative, analyze current process and lead business review meetings. Be able to identify control risks and process improvement opportunities HJUS2017 Basic Qualifications: Master s degree OR Bachelor s degree and 2 years of Accounting or Finance experience OR Associates degree and 6 years Accounting or Finance experience OR High School diploma/GED and 8 years Accounting or Finance experience Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of corporate or public accounting experience Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or MBA Audit or Big 4 Public Accounting experience Comprehensive accounting knowledge on Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including the areas of PP&E, Leases and Software Strong written, verbal communication, and presentation skills and be able to bridge culture differences Excellent analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills Be able to work independently, and have the ability to multi-task and establish priorities Strong project management skills Strong leadership skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience with SAP and BW, Hyperion, EDW applications Industry experience Amgen is committed to unlocking the potential of biology for patients suffering from serious illnesses by discovering, developing, manufacturing and delivering innovative human therapeutics.
