The Orange County Sheriff's Office in Orlando, Florida invites applicants to apply for the position of Data Analyst (IT Specialist III).

Job Summary:

Performs analysis functions for assigned business units including design and development of critical ad-hoc reports. Primary duties include gathering reporting requirements and developing ad-hoc reports; working across business units to collect, aggregate, match, consolidate, and confirm data for quality and accuracy; making process and/or system improvement recommendations to assist the business unit in achieving goals and objectives; performing structured quality assurance testing including the development of test plans and scripts; designing, developing and ensuring the quality of specific databases for collection, tracking, and reporting of research data; and assisting with acquisition, extraction, transformation and deployment of various data sets.

Qualifications:

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card.
  • Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
  • No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Four (4) years of data analysis experience; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in data analysis.
  • Must have demonstrated experience in ad-hoc SQL query development, data analytics, and report-writing.
  • Experience with Microsoft tools (SQL Server, SSRS, Power BI) is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a Public Safety or Human Resources environment preferred.
  • Must have a least one advanced certification pertaining to their specific position or the ability to obtain one within one (1) year of accepting the position.
  • Must have a valid Florida driver’s license and a good driving history. Must attend and successfully complete the agency sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training, if assignment includes driving an agency vehicle. Use of agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing agency biennial driver’s physical exam.
  • Must become FCIC/NCIC certified within one (1) year of accepting the position, depending on assignment.
  • Ability to perform analysis functions for assigned business unit including design and development of critical ad-hoc reports. Gathers reporting requirements for change requests and ad-hoc reports as requested.
  • Must have advanced computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Outlook, Access, Word, and Excel.
