EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, YMCA of Central Florida

The YMCA of Central Florida is seeking a dynamic leader with proven related experience to direct and oversee day-to-day operations as the Executive Director. We are a leader in the Y movement nationally with multiple locations throughout six counties in Central Florida; including Orange, Brevard, Seminole, Osceola, Lake and Marion.

The incumbent will have a budget responsibility of approximately $1.5 million, employing approximately 70 staff with a total membership revenue of $1.1 million.  This individual must be a team motivator with the ability to create an environment that delivers world-class customer service to grow membership acquisition and retention. Under the leadership of the District Vice President, the Executive Director will direct and supervise all aspects of the family center operations, including the annual fundraising campaign to exceed $75,000.

Candidates will be challenged to provide a successful track record in comparable fiscal management including the growth of revenue dollars and the execution of innovative programming in the areas of wellness, youth sports and aquatics; resulting in a greater impact to our members. S/he must be a leader in the community; attending social events and representing the Y core values, mission and cause. The incumbent is responsible for recruiting key community leaders and board members; creating and implementing a well-conceived development/fund-raising plan to achieve short and long term objectives, and will lead the initiative by marshaling the resources of the board, soliciting private donations and high-level donors and funders (individuals, corporations and foundations).

The incumbent must have superior communication skills; with the ability to easily cultivate key relationships and build rapport with a variety of stakeholders. A key objective is to expand the capacity of operational performance to educate and better serve the community by engaging individuals in the Y’s three areas of focus: healthy living, social responsibility and youth development.  Our Association is enjoying tremendous growth while providing national leadership in the areas of community health integration and unique partnerships. EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; field of Business, Management preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in operations management in health and wellness is essential, responsible for a related budget is required; YMCA operations management experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience managing, recruiting and working with a volunteer board required; including leading a comparable fundraising campaign and working closely with major donors, key stakeholders and partners. 
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience executing successful programs in wellness, youth sports & aquatics; with proven trends in growth of revenue and membership engagement.
  • Minimum 5 years of proven related experience leading operations with comparable membership revenue; with positive trends year over year in membership acquisition and retention.    
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Oracle, Salesforce and Technogym experience a plus.
  • Proven experience implementing innovative solutions for improving payroll management; resulting in a positive impact to the bottom line.
  • Prior experience overseeing successful annual support campaigns of $60,000 or more, required.
