This Entertainment Internship at Give Kids The World will give you an opportunity to connect with families and volunteers at all ages and levels seeking the Happiness that inspires Hope. This is a crucial role with nonstop engagement in our two most iconic venues! You will train and oversee volunteers on a continual basis, perform star gazing procedures for our guests, and maintain that the Castle of Miracles and Enchanted Carousel are show ready at all times and fully equipped to provide the perfect guest and volunteer experience.

 

Commitment:

Must be able to provide 3-4 days of availability per week.

 

Job Responsibilities include:

As an Entertainment Intern you will primarily oversees daily operation of Village Entertainment venues: Castle of Miracles and Enchanted Carousel. Your duties will include:

  • Ensure communication channels between Entertainment and all Village departments are open and clear
  • Assist with the care and maintenance of the Village’s iconic Star Program, including star gazing and creating ‘Magical Memories’ for our guests
  • Maintain that storage areas and offices for assigned venues are organized and ‘show ready’
  • Ensure proper inventory supply levels are maintained for assigned venues
  • Act as liaison between volunteers and guests when necessary
  • Train volunteers as needed for assigned venues, with a focus on upholding Village guidelines, policies, and State-mandated attractions safety laws
  • Ensure that volunteers have a meaningful and pleasant experience, including practical on-the-spot support, providing breaks, and giving feedback when necessary
  • Remove litter and debris from around venues and Avenue

Physical Demands Beyond Normal Office Environment:

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, be on a ladder for extended periods, and use hands and arms to lift/move objects
  • Able to consistently lift 50 lbs. unaided
  • Ability to work outside for extended periods in varied outdoor conditions
  • Ability to drive motor vehicles, including golf carts
  • Flexible schedule to include rotating shifts, nights, weekends and/or extended hours of work

 

Qualifications and Specific Skills:

  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Must have good communication skills and be comfortable engaging and interacting with multiple Wish Families and volunteers in any given shift
  • Ability to learn basic Audio/Visual and technological attractions
  • Must utilize time management to the fullest
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English (Spanish a plus)
  • Computer skills to include- Outlook, Excel, Word and Access
  • Theater background or work in youth education a plus

Education / Experience Required:

  • High school diploma required
  • Working towards a degree in Event Management, Recreation, Hospitality or Child Life Specialist preferred

Miscellaneous:

  • Transportation to GKTW and housing are not provided. Students must be able to provide their own transportation to and from the Village
  • Although this is an unpaid internship, students will receive a one-time of $300 stipend at the completion of successful internship
