Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS) Subject Matter Expert (SME) Job Summary

Expert level knowledge of the EMALS operations and maintenance. Works closely with engineers providing consultation to assist in the definition of system requirements and functionality within training system. SME may interact directly with the system or may codify domain knowledge for use by engineers. The SME will validate the expectations of the resulting system during the requirements, design and test phases of the project.

Required Skills:

  1. Two years’ operational and/or maintenance experience with EMALS
  2. Expert level knowledge of the NAVAIR 51-15EMALS-1 Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System Operations, Organizational and Intermediate Maintenance Manual with IPB
  3. Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred, but Not Required Skills:

  1. Five years’ experience with Catapult-Assisted Take-Off operations and/or maintenance.
  2. Systems Engineering expertise using mature processes through the full SDLC of at least one project.

Clearance Requirements

US citizenship required.  Must be able to obtain a DoD personnel secret level security clearance.
