POSITION SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for preservation of condition and functionality of the building with a focus on painting, HVAC and refrigeration, kitchen equipment repair, electrical, and plumbing.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Survey buildings and repair mechanical systems to ensure they are consistent with health and safety standards
  • Perform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, clean and repair circuit breaker panels etc.)
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of ventilation, refrigeration and other systems and conduct repairs when necessary
  • Maintain heating and plumbing systems to ensure functionality
  • Inspect alarm systems (fire, protection) and schedule repairs when needed
  • Perform manual repairs when necessary (fix locks, replace windows etc.)
  • Conduct general upkeep procedures (e.g. landscaping) and other tasks as assigned (painting, carpentry etc.)
  • May perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Technical School Training with a certificate in HVAC and refrigeration, Building Maintenance Technology or relevant field preferred.

 

Skills:

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to make timely and sound decisions. Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at several organizational levels. Conscientious with great attention to detail

 

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages and increments of time. Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

 

Other Qualifications

Proven experience as maintenance technician including a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems. Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods including a working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices. Demonstrated experience with manual dexterity and problem-solving skills.
