Position Summary:

The Business Intelligence Specialist will make information available to the leadership team, Finance, and clients to communicate monthly results on a timely basis. The specialist will also develop techniques to streamline and automate the reporting process and will work closely with the management team to generate client-specific metrics to facilitate internal forecasting, process auditing, KPI Metrics and client communications.

Job Description:

• Create and coordinate the preparation and release of management reports
• Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing report procedures and systems and develop strategies for enhancing or leveraging these processes and systems
• Work directly with decision makers and end users to understand, define, and document current and possible future reporting goals, needs, and requirements
• Responsible for mock up, development, implementation, and training of internal customer requested reporting needs
• Develop, coordinate distribution, and maintain reporting templates
• Retrieve and utilize information from the various systems and other data sources and, when necessary, recommend and manage the development and implementation of ETL processes
• Design, develop, publish, and maintain management dashboards
• Research and recommend key performance indicators in order to provide better intelligence in reporting
• Design reports for performance, data quality, and simplicity/maintainability, and articulate trade-offs as appropriate
• Identify automation and process improvement ideas and implement
• Write and maintain processes related to all standard reporting

  Job Qualifications:

• 3 to 5 five years of previous reporting work experience.
• Associates degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Telecommunications industry experience preferred
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel (VLOOKUP’s, Power Pivot, formulas, etc.)
• Working knowledge of database reporting and 1+ years of experience in working with MS Access, MS Excel, SQL Server/SSIS/SSRS, Oracle SQL.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Creative with the ability to think outside the box
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal/customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others; demonstrated collaborative skills
• Able to prioritize work and multi-task in a fast-paced setting, willing to take on new projects and be flexible
• Proven experience with reporting tools, software, and other applications such as Host Analytics (or equivalent report writer), SharePoint 2013 and Power BI.
• Practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets and graphs
• Considerable exposure to the operation and analysis of relational database software and standards, as well as data retrieval methodologies
• Strong technical skills including the ability to merge data from various sources, write formulas to summarize data, translate data into a user-friendly report, and data mine for necessary drill-down metrics
• Excellent design skills; conceptualize complex data flows/transformations and translate into step sequences that can be implemented using ETL tools
• Proven experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis
• Possess the skill to creatively solve problems and propose solutions with minimal direction
• Proven ability to capture and document end-user requirements; demonstrated project management skills
