The YMCA of Central Florida is seeking an experienced and charismatic leader as the full-time Membership Director at our J. Douglas Williams YMCA Family Center in Lake Mary, Florida. Lake Mary is located 18 miles north of Orlando and is known for its well planned residential communities, excellent A-rated schools, prominent businesses including outstanding restaurants, and a variety of shopping opportunities.

The incumbent will be responsible for leading all aspects of membership services initiatives and achieving sales outcomes; with a key emphasis on membership growth and retention. S/he must be a creative thinker and high performer with the ability to work independently as well as on a team equally. This individual must skillfully identify opportunities for engaging new membership leads and develop corporate partnerships through research, relationships and executing successful sales and marketing activities that promote the Y’s mission and many service offerings. S/he will provide leadership and oversee the membership services and call center functions within the Family Center to ensure prompt follow up on all membership inquiries. This individual must display a professional appearance and refinement to represent the Y’s image within the facility, as well as at community events, attending vendor meetings and other YMCA functions. Candidates must have proven leadership experience with the ability to create an environment that delivers world class customer service to grow membership and program participation.

S/he should have a propensity to project a positive professional attitude and look for innovative solutions to overcome obstacles. S/he will be challenged to provide a successful track record in fiscal management including trends showing growth in membership / sales revenue.  The incumbent must have the ability to create and motivate a highly functioning staff team, as well as provide daily leadership for call center, front desk services, and membership operations. S/he will be responsible for leading tours to perspective members, and ensuring all membership department goals are met on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. S/he must be well versed in the effective utilization of social media and the latest marketing tools in order to maximize the Y’s exposure and engage prospective members. This individual must possess superior interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, management, members, volunteers and guests. S/he will be required to work flexible hours, especially during peak times of facility usage that will include week days, evenings, mornings, weekends and some holidays.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of marketing, business administration, communications, public relations or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 
  • Minimum three years’ experience in leadership and staff management with demonstrated ability to train, mentor and develop staff to create a sales oriented team and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in outside sales, marketing, customer service or call center is essential.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in direct sales, with proven results in unit and revenue growth.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, and be willing to travel within Central Florida.
  • Demonstrated ability to train, mentor and develop staff to create a sales oriented team and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Demonstrated skills in fundraising, public relations, volunteer development and implementation of membership or call center initiatives.
  • Connect with local community to plan various events inside the family center as well as outside corporate events.
