This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration of benefit related systems and data transfers. Key tasks include ensuring all inbound and outbound reports from the State of Florida Department of Management Services and vendors are reviewed and corrected in a timely manner. This includes collecting and analyzing data to take corrective actions as necessary and file testing/troubleshooting.

  • Analyze, audit, and research daily interface files sent to, and received from, the the State of Florida insurance plan administrator (People First).
  • Identify errors regarding insurance plan enrollments, coverage changes, errors, premium changes, etc.; Advise Benefits team members on applicable action(s) to take via Service Now interface.
  • Review all retirement contributions regarding special circumstances (i.e. leave payouts, IRS 401(a)(17) contribution limits, ineligible contributions, retroactive payments, etc.) and make necessary calculations.
  • Act as a subject matter expert to Benefits team on matters relating to interface files, as well as consistently analyze needed process improvements presented by the Benefits team and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Oversee and serve as primary contact for all Service Now updates, system enhancements, etc.
  • Serve as a backup for the Benefits Coordinators when needed for providing coverage with employee inquiries regarding insurance and retirement.
  • Assist with the coordination of university compliance with federal, state and local healthcare laws applicable to UCF employee benefits.
  • Interact with other sections of the Human Resources department including HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), Payroll and Accounting as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret Federal, State, Board of Trustees, and UCF rules, policies and procedures. Formulate recommendations regarding process and procedure changes to improve effectiveness of HR and Benefits. Able to interpret sections of the IRS code, Florida Statutes, and federal laws, as well as be able to recommend actions to ensure University compliance.
  • A high level of research and analytical problem solving ability is necessary. Be detail oriented and demonstrate commitment to completing assigned responsibilities with a high level of accuracy and timeliness.
  • High degree of knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft HCM, Florida State Group Insurance and Florida Retirement System.
