Telephone and PC Technician


JOB TITLE: TELEPHONE AND PC TECHNICIAN

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 

Maintains, troubleshoots, and coordinates repairs for telephone, copiers, fax, printers, and related computer applications and hardware. Provides customer service to contracted child care providers for repairs of agency owned devices.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees telephone needs including user desktop phones, agency cell phones, and telephone systems including vendor coordination for computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations as assigned. 
  2. Sets up telephone, printer, and copier equipment for employee use. Ensures proper installation of software and configurations. 
  3. Performs random audits of telephone tree configurations to ensure functionality and customer contact efficiency.
  4. Provides customer service and work order resolution for contracted (EHS/CCP) child care providers using agency owned computers. 
  5. Assists with obtaining or reassignment/relocations of telephone, computer, copier, and printer equipment, maintaining inventory transfer documentation. 
  6. Troubleshoots and maintains network copiers, including scanning functions, and printers. 
  7. Stays abreast of advances in technology.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Electronic equipment, telephonic and computer hardware and software, including applications/programming.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office at a basic level*: Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word.
  • Ability to gain knowledge of: Agency terminology, goals, and objectives. Customer service in line with Agency standards.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of skill in: Troubleshooting and repairing a variety of telephonic/computer hardware and software.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision to meet deadlines as well as organize and plan efficiently.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to communicate policies, procedures and objectives effectively throughout the Agency, and to interact with representatives in the community.
  • Sensitivity to the needs, abilities, beliefs, and attitudes of individuals within and outside the Agency, including but not limited to clients and co-workers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Graduation from an accredited community college with an Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Two (2) year experience maintaining, analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing telephonic and computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals. 
  • Experience with NEC phone systems is preferred.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS

  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License and daily access to reliable transportation to and from work and for travel to off-site locations.
  • Must have no suspension or revocation of Driver’s License in the previous 36 months.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to lift 50 pounds in the form of computer equipment and boxes.
  • Ability to crawl, bend, kneel, stand, lift, and reach overhead, push, and pull objects while performing job functions.

 

SALARY RANGE:  $16.15 per hour
Pay Grade: IT-8
