Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer- Full Time - South Seminole Hospital - South Seminole Hospital

South Seminole Hospital is a 206-bed, full-service, medical/surgical community hospital located in scenic Longwood, Florida. The hospital is a part of Orlando Health and serves the residents of Seminole County, Florida. Our team is dedicated to offering quality healthcare services and programs to meet the needs of our community. We use the latest equipment, perform the most advanced medical procedures and offer prevention, wellness and community outreach services. The hospital is also home to one of Orlando Health’s three Air Care Team helicopter bases, allowing critical patients to be transferred to ORMC’s Level I Trauma Center. South Seminole Hospital is home to Orlando Health Behavioral Healthcare, an 80-bed psychiatric hospital. Patients suffering from mental and addictive disorders, such as major depressive disorders, depression and bipolar disorder to schizophrenia, as well as addictive behaviors stemming from drug and alcohol use, are treated at this facility. The facility has three adult units, a unit for adolescents and children, and a unit for adults requiring an intensive level of care.

Job Summary:

Performs diagnostic cardiac and vascular testing: including 2D and M-mode Echocardiography, Transesophageal Echocardiography, Exercise and Dobutamine Stress Echocardiography, carotid ultrasound, venous Doppler of upper and lower limbs, arterial Doppler of upper and lower limbs, and equipment operation and maintenance.

Responsibilities:

  • Recognizes normal and abnormal vascular and cardiac documentation. Participates in the hospital Clinical Quality Improvement. Communicates openly and effectively with all team members. Responsible for call with 24-hour accountability when assigned. Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Assists with ECG, clerical duties, and transporting of patients.
  • Schedules patients for vascular and cardiac procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her assigned unit.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principle of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the units/areas departments policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates competency in contrast medication administration.

Education/Training:

Education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.

Licensure/Certification:

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or

Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or

Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and;

Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.

Experience:

Formal training certification from an accredited program.
