SUMMARY

The Corporate Paralegal is required to approach his/her job with Cru in a manner that seeks, individually and with others, the guidance of the Holy Spirit through prayer.  He/she is also expected to approach his/her job in a way that reflects the teachings of the Lord with dignity and respect for those with whom he/she works and with an understanding that his/her words and deeds are a witness to the faith and mission of this organization.

The specific assignment for this position will be to work with a team to: 

Provide administrative management to General Counsel, staff attorneys and others in the planning, preparation and record-keeping of all parent and subsidiary Boards of Directors of the ministry, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As an employee with Cru

Schedule Board of Directors meetings (for both parent and subsidiaries); be responsible for the taking and preparation of all board meeting minutes and other corporate governance documents; be responsible for preparation and distribution of agendas and supplemental materials for board meetings.

Ensure all required corporate record-keeping is current and securely maintained, including minute books, electronic database and other electronic files; work closely with other paralegals and assistants to accomplish filing of corporate/legal documents with appropriate government officials.

Prepare variety of complex correspondence, agenda, memoranda, legal documents, reports and other materials including material of highly confidential nature.

Perform wide variety of administrative functions, including compiling and proofreading legal and governance documents, updating records, and preparing and sending mailings.

Work with individual Board members to accomplish travel and attendance arrangements; assist others in making logistical arrangements for Board of Directors’ meetings including hotel, transportation service, catering and hospitality arrangements.  

OTHER FUNCTIONS (Non-essential)

Perform other work-related duties as required.

CHRISTIAN FAITH:

  • Must have accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior
  • Must sign the Statement of Faith of Cru without reservation
  • Must be able to clearly express Biblical principles which are the foundation for the Christian faith
  • Must be able express faith in a manner which encourages those who are not believers to consider making the Christian faith their own
  • Must have a history of participation in Bible study and worship
  • Must be able to describe his/her practice of prayer and his/her understanding of the Holy Spirit’s ongoing work in his/her personal life and in his/her professional life
  • Must be willing to conduct his/her life in a manner which is consistent with Cru’s standards and expectations understanding that his/her conduct in the workplace and in the community can reflect on the mission of Cru.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

It is anticipated that all employees of Cru, throughout the course of their employment, will actively seek opportunities for greater understanding, involvement and connection with our ministry by taking part in various activities as specified by their leadership.  This includes attending periodic Bible studies and other worship expressions, which occur in the work place during the work week.  Employees are also expected to actively and intentionally grow in their Christian faith and exhibit Christian character as demonstrated by their attitude, appearance and conduct as outlined in ‘Standards and Expectations’ section of the employee handbook.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Excellent written communication skills (technical writing preferred)
Strong oral communication skills

Corporate legal filings
Laws, rules and regulations related to required corporate record keeping processes and maintenance
Modern office practices, procedures and equipment
Operation of personal computer and tablet computer, including word processing, spreadsheets and database management.
Ministry mission, vision, policies and objectives.

ABILITY TO:

Communicate effectively by using technical writing techniques|
Interface effectively with executive leadership and Board Members of the ministry
Operate personal and tablet computers, including word processing and database software.
Handle complex administrative details

Travel outside of Orlando several times per year.
Develop and maintain effective working and interpersonal relationships.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: AA degree and more than five years of corporate paralegal or legal office administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
