We are in search of a dynamic Communications Manager to lead the effective development of compelling messaging and editorial content for the organization to be used for a broad range of engaging communications which support the Y’s brand as a cause, the organization’s impact on the community, for membership programs and financial development communications. This position reports to the Vice President of Brand & Cause Advocacy and is based out of our corporate office located in Downtown Orlando.

JOB RESPOSIBILITIES:

Primary Responsibilities of the Communications Manager include but are not limited to:

  1. Prepare messaging and copy for the organization’s Marketing and Communications initiatives, including but not limited to: web content, social media messaging, general collateral, video production, script writing, fact sheets, Q&A’s, frequently asked questions, white papers, newsletters, business communications, reports, presentations and customized communications for business functions.
  2. Lead the coordination, programming and content development for social media programs, and website content/features that serve to support Marketing and Communications goals. Serve as proofreader for printed, electronic, voice, Public Relations (PR) and digital messages or communications.  
  3. Collaborate with members of the Marketing Brand Advocacy team as well as leadership staff at the YMCA Family Center locations in the development, coordination and execution of year-round Association level communications programs.
  4. Work on special assignments as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required.
  2. Minimum 5 years of corporate communications or marketing communications experience required. Multi-site marketing experience highly preferred.
  3. Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills required; with the ability to write compelling and engaging content for Y initiatives and programs. Related sample work required.
  4. Demonstrated experience executing successful communications programs & campaigns.
  5. Proficient in social media platforms including; Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  6. Experience with Sprout Social or Hootsuite preferred.
  7. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a fast-paced marketing communications team.
  8. Exceptional skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Adobe and project management systems such as Wrike and/or Basecamp.
  9. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  10. Ability to prioritize projects, work within short time frames and meet deadlines.
  11. Well organized with ability to multi-task and think outside of the box.
  12. Self-starter; able to work independently as well as collectively in a team environment.
  13. Demonstrated success in communications role for a similar size organization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Marketing writing experience.
  2. Healthcare or health-related compelling writing experience.
  3. Experience with managing or developing social media campaigns and content.
  4. Video scripting/production experience.
  5. Multi-site marketing experience.
