The Los Angeles Film School is seeking experienced customer service professionals to join our team as a Financial Aid Counselor. Online Financial Aid Counselors will work to support students interested in pursuing their degrees Online with the Los Angeles Film School. Our online learning environment utilizes interactive and web-based media, allowing students from all over the world to pursue their passion in the entertainment industry. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Winter Park, FL, working from local offices in support The Los Angeles Film School's online students.

Job Summary

  • Support and assist incoming students and parents throughout the enrollment process in all aspects, including admissions, financial aid, and enrollment in pursuing a first degree and subsequent degrees.
  • Act as a liaison between incoming student/parent and LAFS departments.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to students and parents so the student may successfully start a new degree.
  • Provide guidance on steps necessary to complete education and financial aid processing.

Responsiblities

  • Advise incoming students and parents on all processes to ensure seamless experience prior to the student’s start in their program.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and communication channels with students, parents, and all LAFS departments involved in the pursuit of a degree.
  • Track all documents relative to student enrollment against milestones.
  • Communicate timelines to students and parents to ensure timely starts.
  • Update database/tracking systems to reflect student’s status in the enrollment process.
  • Maintain enrollment progress/status for students with defined start dates.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • At least one year of Administrative and Customer Service experience, previous Financial Aid experience is preferred but not required
  • Applicant must not currently be in default on student loans
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Remain current on Financial Aid packaging, to include federal, state, and private resources
  • Remain current on Admissions requirements
  • Night and weekend coverage as needed
  • Mental stamina sufficient to work long hours; ability, on a consistent basis, to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods of time
  • Works well in a team environment; positive attitude a must
  • Creative problem-solver with attention to detail
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, competitive, and dynamic environment
  • Ability to handle multiple student cases at the same time
  • Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. May consider financial aid experience in lieu of degree
