Location:             Southwest Florida

Position Summary:

The Head End Technician’s primary responsibility will be assisting with the management of video content and IP services delivery via the CMTS and GPON Access networks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work on the continuing development of an all-digital head end, including TVRO’s, equipment racking, provisioning, and testing.            
  • Maintain video IP core to include unicast and multicast video traffic.
  • Maintain a very high standard of wiring management from both a network and cosmetic perspective.
  • Maintain integrity of forward and reverse network at the head end and remote POP’s.
  • Install, configure, maintain and upgrade CMTS, RFOG and FTTH hub sites.
  • Maintain event schedules and complete daily data base backups on system set-top devices.
  • Maintain channel lineups and on-screen messages for converters. 
  • Help with the technical liaison with the set-top providers.
  • Support the management of the CMTS from an RF perspective.
  • Support the head-end based optical transmitters and receivers for the HFC network.
  • Learn to manage DAC 6000, CASMR and other conditional access systems.
  • Support new product launches including GPON FTTH, IPTV.
  • Assist in the completion of FCC proof-of‐performance testing as required and file the reports.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in an advanced technical support environment.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with IP networking.
  • At least 2 years’ experience with CATV RF fundamentals.
  • Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug test.
  • Respond to the needs of a 24/7/365 operation
  • Must be able to work after hours and weekends.  Remain in service during outages until resolved.
  • Remain in a state of readiness to handle call issues when on call.  Readiness includes being in local market, be in a state of mind so as to perform service and having company provided communications equipment ready to receive calls.
  • Must be able to work emergency schedules during natural disasters and network outages.
  • Must have a clear MVR.
  • Position is based in Southwest Florida.  Frequent travel within Florida will be required.
  • Flexibility to work mandatory overtime in order to meet business needs.
