Medical Records Technician – Imaging Coordinator

 

POSITION:  Medical Records Technician – Imaging Coordinator

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Medical Records Supervisor/Director of Information Systems & Technology

JOB SUMMARY:  Process requests for imaging CDs and films for physicians and patients. Review and index surgery images into patient charts.

 

         EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma required

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Two plus years of work experience in a physician practice required
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office (Email, Word and Excel) processing software
  • Knowledge in Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) preferred
  • Knowledge of Practice Management and Electronic Health Record (EHR) software
  • Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and cheerful attitude
  • Strong attention to detail

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Process all requests for imaging CDs and films in the downtown SoDo office  
  • Conduct Patient Chart Review for physicians.  Ensure all previous images pertaining to the specific body part are available on PACS for the patient’s follow-up visits.
  • Film Digitizing: Collect films left in the SODO clinics daily, digitize into PACS and return to patient.
  • Import into PACS all CDs left in the clinic, delivered via courier, or via mail.
  • Transfer images through PACS at the request of OOC’s external imaging partners.
  • Process all requests for patient Wallet/Airport Cards.
  • Process subpoena requests for films in accordance with Company’s Release of Information (RIO) Policies and Guidelines.
  • Review and index surgery images and related documentation into patient charts within the EHR.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Medical Records Supervisor or Director of IS & IT.

Typical Physical Demands

 

Work may require sitting for long periods of time, and also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies.  Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer, telephone, calculator, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary.  Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time, and working in an environment which may be stressful.  Position could require occasional travel.
