POSITION: Industrial Athletic Trainer

RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Business Development and Marketing

JOB SUMMARY: The athletic trainer will provide triage, first aid, education and case management within the scope of their practice in an off-site industrial setting. They will serve as the subject matter experts concerning injury evaluation/assessment, injury prevention, rehabilitation, physical accommodation, ergonomic assessment and instruction, injury prevention, and work conditioning/work hardening.  They will also maintain daily records of care, education and assessments in compliance with OSHA and case management needs.

 

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training or related field
  • NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer
  • Florida License in Athletic Training
  • CPR/AED certified
  • NPI number
  • Must pass level 2 finger printing process and any additional security measures required by the employer

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 1 to 3 years work experience as an Athletic Trainer in the industrial setting
  • Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of practice management and electronic health record software
  • Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

    On-site Clinical Duties

  • Perform preventative Ergonomic and Biomechanical Assessment and Training: Observe body mechanics of employees performing tasks to identify at-risk behavior and recommend safer alternatives
  • Provide monitoring and coaching on related health issues and develop early intervention, wellness, and nutritional programs for employees based on individual needs
  • Prepare and present on-the-job educational topics in both classroom and one-on-one settings, covering areas of health, wellness and injury prevention
  • Provide Annual or Routine Eye Exam
  • Drug - Screening and Tobacco Testing
  • Maintain daily records of care, education and assessments in compliance with OSHA and case management needs
  • Management of Clinic supplies and equipment
  • Develop a good working relationship with and maintain an open line of communication with supervising Physicians and clients at all times

    Workplace Safety Responsibilities:

  • Injury/Triage:  Triage and first-aid care of on-site injury with an emphasis on on-site treatment by ATC or coordination of care for serious injuries
  • Maintain eyewash stations and perform regular inspections
  • Perform routine AED Maintenance
  • Be eligible to provide CPR/First Aid Training (preferred)

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Typical Physical Demands

Work requires the ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally with frequent lifting between 5-10 pounds. Work requires the ability to sit, stoop, crouch and kneel as needed during job responsibilities. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a computer, telephone, calculator, copier, and such other office equipment as necessary.  Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time, and working in an environment which may be stressful.  Position could require occasional travel.

Typical Working Conditions

Employee will have some exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances (ie: cleaning products), medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
