The primary function of this position is to drive a tractor trailer, tandem trailer and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading various products (meats, produce, frozen foods, groceries, dry goods) for restaurants, delicatessens, hospitals, schools, nursing homes, convenience stores, supermarkets and other foodservice outlets, in a timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, observing all safety regulations, ensuring all quality standards are met and safe, courteous and professional behavior is observed in all situations.
The Delivery Driver position will perform the following duties:
- Delivers products in a tractor/trailer or straight truck
- Complies with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations
- Maintains truck operating efficiency
- Maintains safe operation and clean appearance
- Unloads product of varying size and weight using a hand cart; 10-35 pounds frequently
- Enhances our organizations' reputation by ensuring courteous customer service
- Maintains delivery, truck, and driving records using onboard computer
- Required Qualifications
• 1+ years tractor trailer experience (commercial driving experience)
• Must have a valid Class A Commercial Drivers’ License.
• Must have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
• Must meet the medical standards of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
• Must be able to perform all delivery functions including:
o Lifting up to 90 pounds on occasion and 20 to 50 pounds frequently.
o Operating trailer lift gates and two-wheeled hand trucks.
o Balancing, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, grasping, talking and hearing.
o Working inside and outside in a wide variety of temperature and environmental conditions.
o Performing basic math operations.
