JOB SUMMARY:
Manages, directs, and maintains agency facilities security systems, security networks and hardware, and custodial functions which concern facility safety measures.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:
- At least 18 years of age
- U.S. Citizen or possess a current permanent resident card
- Clean criminal history; any arrest history will be individually evaluated.
- No illegal drug usage within the past two years, all other usage will be evaluated on an individual basis.
- Must be able to comprehend and communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing; effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to include senior staff.
- Associate’s degree (A.A. or A.S.) or equivalent from a two-year college, technical school, or certification program in a related field; and five (5) years of experience setting up communications and facilities security systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to obtain an Orange County Low Voltage License upon hire, as required.
- Ability to evaluate current and future agency facility, security, and safety practices for all OCSO buildings; provide recommendations to ensure that agency security goals are maintained.
- Must have extensive knowledge of communication and security systems installation and repair; basic construction knowledge and an understanding of building and wiring codes; knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) in order to ensure compliance.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of hardware materials (e.g., controllers, strikes, mag locks, timers, contacts, cameras, and DVRs) and have the ability to manually install hardware and perform routine maintenance of agency facilities’ security (e.g., video cameras, card access systems, etc.); coordinate with County regarding installations.
- Ability to work with contractors, engineers, architects, and County employees; communicate with internal agency personnel and external agencies, citizens, and vendors; work in conjunction with IMS through separate servers to acquire information necessary to perform facilities’ security functions (e.g., obtaining IP addresses); maintain network video camera recordings and ensure backup systems are in place.
- Ability to train facilities’ personnel on relevant software and hardware; act as a lead when dealing with contractors and county employees while conducting facilities security and video security systems installations.
- Must be able to maintain facilities’ security related equipment, hardware, and software to ensure proper operation or to conduct repairs; maintain inventories of equipment, tools, and back up keys.
- Ability to manage security projects (e.g., coordinate meetings, quotes, equipment purchases with vendors, assist contractors, review blueprints and provide plan details including specifications, prints, power consumptions, and work environment impacts, etc.); prepare budget reports and provide recommendations on purchases.
- Must be able to administer the card access system for the entire agency; assign/remove users; liaison with County to operate hard key access control for all agency doors.
- Must have basic to intermediate computer skills to include word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, etc.) with the ability to learn and utilize specialized applications, informational systems (e.g., video surveillance programs, fiber optics applications, etc.), and the use of the Internet to effectively research information; maintain knowledge of databases, PCs, servers, and networks; have intermediate math skills.
- Must have a valid Florida driver’s license. If assignment includes driving an agency vehicle, must attend and successfully complete the agency-sponsored Law Enforcement Vehicle Operations (LEVO) Training. Use of an agency vehicle would require appropriate driving history and passing the agency’s biennial driver’s physical exam.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk; and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Applicants with body ornamentation (tattoos) shall not have any visible body ornamentation on the head, face, and neck area, which includes the visible skin while wearing a collared uniform shirt with an unbuttoned top button. Employees shall not have any visible body ornamentation located on the hands which is defined as the area from wrist to fingertips; however, a tattoo simulating a wedding ring on the ring finger of the left hand will not be considered excessive as described herein.
