R&D Engineer

We are seeking a well-rounded individual to complement our current R&D department. This full-time position will provide support for current projects, and will be expected to take the lead with new projects. Candidate applying for the position should have proficiency in SolidWorks with a knowledge and understanding of Corel Draw and/or Illustrator. This position will assist in improving the current product line, troubleshoot high level issues, travel occasionally to install and train top level lasers, along with other various projects. An ideal candidate should be dependable, self-motivated, can work with little to no supervision, and enjoys coming up with solutions. This position is particularly suited for an individual looking to grow.

Our control systems include software, control board, LCD display panel, stepper/servo drivers/encoders, stepper/servo motors. A brief description of hardware that we use would include analog and PWM signals, pulse and direction signals, PLC, AC and DC voltage. This position will have some travel once trained.

Preferred Education: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering. Experience in a related field acceptable replacement.

Experience: Minimum of two years’ experience in product design with a solid understanding of product life cycle. ISO Experience a plus.

Desired skills, knowledge and abilities: Ability to work independently, as well as work well with others in a multi-functional, fast paced environment. Able to adapt to daily activities. Capable of understanding priorities and managing time effectively. Experience with motion controlled system. G-code knowledge a plus. Knowledge of networking a plus. The ability to function in a windows environment utilizing Outlook, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of general office equipment.

Reasoning Ability: Able to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Able to multi-task.

Personal Aptitudes: Ability to communicate in a clear and precise style. Person can compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, using all parts of speech appropriately. Ability to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English with a well-modulated voice. Person is required to have strong analytical skills and ability to formulate plans. Person has strong attention to detail skills.

Physical Demands: While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on occasion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts (forklifts and other machinery). The noise level in the work environment is loud on occasion.

Salary: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 Annually
