Non-exempt; Hourly pay range

The YMCA of Central Florida is committed to providing health and wellness solutions for its members and community.  The Winter Park Y is seeking a Full-time Personal Training Supervisor that will oversee PT programming and lead staff. This individual is responsible for and accountable to the growth and success of the Personal Training department. Responsibilities include the leadership of the staff, weekly personal training and wellness programming, and specialty group personal training classes.  Critical to the success of this position is the ability to provide excellent member service, involvement, engagement, retention initiatives and introducing innovative strides in program development.

Qualifications:         

  1. Minimum 2 years of related supervisory experience; leading and selecting personal training staff, and managing daily operations of a personal training department with comparable budget and revenue goals.    
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in personal training / wellness field.
  3. Current Personal Training certification through ACSM, NSCA, NASM, W.I.T.S., ACE, or Y-USA required.
  4. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
  5. Must possess communication, supervisory, and organizational skills. 
  6. Must possess competent knowledge of personal training principles, fitness testing, health risks, and program design.
  7. Working knowledge and familiarity with exercise safety guidelines for instruction and equipment.
  8. Ability to work as a team member.
  9. Previous experience working in the YMCA, health club, spa, or healthcare industry strongly preferred.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist in development, implementation and evaluation of all personal training activities for the Family Center.
  2. Oversee scheduling of staff for given shifts, to ensure necessary coverage at all times.
  3. Ensure a safe environment and ensure required staff certifications are current.
  4. Attend required meetings and trainings as are assigned by Family Center leadership.
  5. Assist in maintaining facility cleanliness standards by compiling a supply list for housekeeping and craft needs.
  6. Provide superior customer service, assisting with problem solving and conflict situations.
  7. Assist in the leadership of the Family Center Annual Support Campaign (fundraising).
  8. Assist in the coordination of special staff, member, and volunteer events.
  9. Administer quality tool procedures (Quality Standards and Program Best Practices).
  10. Participate in Family Center management functions and planning.
