Job Title:           Assistant Chief Engineer

Department:    Engineering

Reports To:      Chief Engineer             

OVERVIEW/POSITION PURPOSE:

Oversee the daily maintenance of villas and public buildings. Ensure compliance of all policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Staff Management

  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to provide direction, leadership and support to assigned engineering staff that mirrors the mission and core values of the organization
  • Provide necessary and appropriate coaching through frequent feedback, 1-1s and performance reviews
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement
  • Create employee schedules for all of Engineering
  • Ensure staff members receive timely and appropriate training and development
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, and establish priorities

Daily Operations

  • Oversee daily maintenance requests
  • Perform opening/daily walks to ensure show quality
  • Prioritize work orders through HotSoS maintenance software
  • Oversee preventative maintenance program for Villas, ensuring work is pre-scoped and scheduled consistently
  • Perform major repairs as needed
  • Develop and maintain effective work relationships with Housekeeping, Support Services and Guest Services

Planning

  • Modify processes to enhance operation productivity
  • Determine and prepare justification for additional required equipment
  • Develop and maintain ongoing training program
  • Actively participate in Operations Management Team

Reporting

  • Monitor assigned KPIs, activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to ensure an efficiently managed engineering program
  • Adopt and utilize weekly reports and checklists to ensure staff are providing safe, effective, and controlled services

All other duties as assigned

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY/DIRECT REPORTS:

Engineering staff of 10

PHYSICAL DEMANDS BEYOND NORMAL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT:

  • Regularly required to walk, stand, bend, crouch, balance, use hands/arms to lift/move objects
  • Ability to move/lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions
  • Have a flexible schedule in order to work days, nights, weekends and holidays

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Demonstrated effective manager with the ability to train, coach and motivate team members
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills with the ability to manage and execute tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Establishes effective working relationships by adjusting approaches to meet the needs of a diverse team
  • Effectively identifies and analyzes problems. Uses creative solutions to solve problems with varying degrees of information.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, tact, professionalism and integrity
  • PC skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to operate a motorized vehicle, including battery-operated golf cart
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • High School Diploma
  • At least 5 years of previous resort/hotel management experience with similar functional areas.
  • At least 3 years of experience managing teams
  • HVAC or Electrical Certification preferred
  • Bachelor Degree in related field preferred
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish is helpful
