Ranch Hand

Job Summary:

The Ranch Hand Cast Members at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch will be responsible for the daily care of over 90 horses and ponies that live at the Walt Disney World® Resort. Ranch Hand Cast Members will assist with pony rides, leading guest trail rides, driving single & multiple draft horses and pony teams. The daily care of the horses include feeding, grooming, washing, working, and cleaning the stables.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional animal care and ensure the safety of our guests while working around equine
  • Maintain all animal areas to include the stables daily
  • Provide additional animal training, environmental enrichment, and mental stimulation
  • Observe and maintain the implementation of feeding and nutritional programs and provide feedback on animal health to leadership team
  • Experience working with horses safely and having initiative to handle unforeseen circumstances
  • Provide outstanding guest service and educate guests on the animal collection
  • Assist Guest with proper load and unload of the guests along trail rides. Check equipment before loading guests
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities
  • Work with hay, dust, wood shavings, grains, and a variety of animals

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to be considered for this role
  • Minimum one (1) year Horse experience to include riding, or driving single and multiple horse teams
  • Repetitive heavy lifting of 50-70 pounds repeatedly, at times over your head
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience driving trucks and trailers to transport horses
  • Experience saddling, harness horses and ponies
  • Proactively engage with Guest by address needs by answering questions, giving directions and other information
  • Full availability for any shift, any day of the week, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Additional Personal Protective Equipment (face shields, goggles, refillable hand sanitizers, etc.) may be required
  • Cast members may be required to handle cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Physical role requiring heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Equine driving experience and the ability to drive multiple hitch teams
  • Proven advanced riding ability

SCHEDULE AVAILABILTY Our Theme Parks and Resort Hotels operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and some shifts may start as early as 5:00am while some may end as late as 3:00am, 4:00am or 5:00am. Please note that the principles of seniority are used to schedule all roles.
