Job Description:

This position performs post-award sponsored program functions associated with the post-award administration of awards. The Post Award Finance Specialist II is responsible for the management of sponsored awards from award set up through the project closeout. This position will report to the Assistant Director, Sponsored Programs (Post Award).

Responsibilities for this position include:
 

  • Review award documents to extrapolate critical information to perform all data entry functions in the Research Administration system for new awards, modifications, extensions, budget transfers, etc., and ERP Financial system, where data does not auto-populate fields.
     
  • Interpretation and implementation of post-award policies and financial compliance in regard to sponsored research projects.
     
  • Work with institute, center or department administrators, and PI's on corrective action as needed for allowability, consistency, allocability, and reasonableness -- this may also include the removal of charges incurred after the project end date such as payroll, goods or services not ordered during the performance period, etc.
     
  • Ensure appropriate setup/management of financial accounts and accurate documentation of compliance requirements and any special award terms and conditions.
     
  • Analyze project expenditures to ensure costs are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and consistently handled per UCF policy and sponsor requirements. Review statement of work and other contract and grant requirements for projects. Project sponsors may be federal, state, municipal, or private organizations.
     
  • Review and approve rebudgeting requests and selected financial transactions related to contract and grant accounts and prepare/coordinate financial and other reports as required.
     
  • Collaborate with OR pre-award and contract administrators as needed to identify and provide solutions for cost-sharing discrepancies, budgetary modifications, and terms and conditions for new awards and modifications.
     
  • Analyze, coordinate and report findings to Management in various ongoing yearly audits. Gather data as needed for UCF internal audits and government agency audits of sponsored projects.
     
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Monday - Friday; 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The schedule may vary as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills and critical analysis abilities.
     
  • Working knowledge and experience with UCF policies and procedures are preferred.
     
  • Higher education, public, government, or foundation research contract and grant experience.
     
  • Exposure to program administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, such as 2 CFR 200/Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), etc.
     
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to effectively interact with senior management and individuals with varying degrees of research administration and financial knowledge.
     
  • Demonstrated experience with an electronic research administration system or enterprise resource planning system with direct general ledger experience. PeopleSoft or Huron Research Suites is a plus.
