The Human Resources Intern is responsible for activities related to the overall support of administration functions, monitoring, assisting with day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department, and working closely with the restaurant Managers, HR Generalist, and HR Manager. Ensures the employee experience is successfully delivered within the framework of Gibsons Restaurant Group's philosophy and culture, which is based upon the Core Values of Hospitality, Quality, Value, and Family. This position requires in-person attendance and will be a 16 weeks internship. Internship length may vary depending on school requirements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with daily recruiting activities such as screening resumes in multiple recruiting sites (i.e Culinary Agents, Zip Recruiter, Craigslist and Indeed)
- Keep track of posted jobs throughout the organization, open and close positions as requested.
- Support HR Generalist in Job Fair administration work, such as setting up at any location, assisting candidates with application process, develop marketing materials
- Become proficient at the GRG ATS (application tracking system) and Onboarding system
- Keep track of new hires in the onboarding process, make sure tasks are completed by both the new employee and the manager
- Create flyers for multiple communication needs for internal and external purposes
- Utilize E-Verify to screen new hires and maintain appropriate I-9 documentation.
- Maintain, store, and secure employee records.
- Participate in employee orientation activities as needed.
- Support HR Generalists and Managers with Unemployment, FMLA, Workers Compensation and benefits administration as needed.
- Assist candidates with questions and needs, both in person and on the phone.
- Conduct reference and background checks
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications
To be considered for the internship the student has to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as professional maturity to maintain strict confidentiality with employee information. Ability to operate various office equipment and proficiency in Google, Microsoft Office Suite. Spanish and/or Creole proficiency is preferred. Must be available to work a minimum 25 hours per week on-site with flexibility as needed.
Education and/or Experience:
Must be a student at an accredited college or university pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate-level degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Hospitality, or related field.
