The Opportunity:

As a member of the HR leadership team, the selected candidate will serve as a leading subject matter expert who applies human resources best practices in position classification design, salary administration, compensation and rewards, and compensation analytics, while assuring that practices and outcomes align with established UCF regulations, policies, and state and federal laws. In this position, you will create, implement, and administer a multi-layered compensation program that supports UCF's mission and strategic plan to attract, engage and retain talented employees. 

Business Title: Director, Compensation Strategy, Classification, & Analytics

Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Hire, supervise, develop, inspire, and retain a high-performing team of diverse professionals, motivate and engage staff, create a vision of excellence and superior customer service, and lead visibly with confidence and resiliency.
  • Lead and manage in an environment that fosters innovation, promotes creative problem-solving and continuous improvement, addresses pockets of resistance, and raises awareness about risks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for compensation and classification structures and practices, including career-leveling and job slotting and research, and contribute to recommendations on compensation philosophy, industry best practices, and total rewards strategies.
  • Leverage knowledge of market conditions and competitive talent landscape to design tailored strategies for compensation concerning key talent segments, including staying abreast of emerging trends and proactively putting forward recommendations that enable UCF to be competitive and resourceful in our compensation practices. 
  • Direct, develop, and manage the pay strategy, consulting, and analytics functions within the HR Center of Expertise (COE), including all compensation, classification reviews, workforce planning, career paths/job level programs, and audit and analytical functions, ensuring excellent offerings and timely service delivery to the campus community.
  • Lead, manage, and administer the compensation functions in a manner that ensures programs, such as compensation, equity, bonus programs, and rewards, are competitive, valued, and aligned with UCF's business strategy and financial plans. 
  • Utilize effective training, performance management, and career-development activities to lead the team to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Ensure the HR Business Centers (HRBC) and COE staff are provided timely training and information to assist them in performing their duties accurately and within UCF policies, regulations, and federal and state laws.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field, along with 8+ years of relevant and progressive work experience leading Classification and Compensation programs and 3+ years of supervisory experience leading a team of professionals.

  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, creative, comfortable with ambiguity, organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to bridge a big picture vision and a tactical plan that our leaders and employees understand at the lowest level of detail.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to understand and apply information and data related to the HRIS system.
  • General knowledge within various HR roles, customer-focused with proven relationship building strengths.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential situations with objectivity, candor, and confidence.
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills and demeanor, with demonstrated ability to invite diverse perspectives and bring diverse groups together to gain consensus and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Experience as a change agent with strong collaboration skills and the ability to influence key senior stakeholders.
  • Workday ERP experience or other related ERP.
  • Ability to achieve goals through influencing, partnering, and developing productive relationships.
  • Higher education compensation experience
  • Master's degree; CCP or other related compensation certifications; and/or SHRM SCP or SPHR certifications
