The Position:

Position General Summary:

The Security Administrator is responsible for a broad range of tasks, including the day-to-day administration of information security tools and devices, as well as support for security information and event management (SIEM), and may include significant responsibilities for the security administration of a wide variety of IT systems and platforms.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Perform installation and configuration management of security systems and applications, including policy assessment and compliance tools, network security appliances and host-based security systems.

  • Assist in the management of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, switches, and routers.

  • Support data encryption deployments, including key management.

  • Perform system security administration on designated technology platforms, including operating systems, applications, and network security devices, in accordance with the defined policies, standards and procedures, as well as with industry best practices and vendor guidelines.

  • Perform threat and vulnerability assessments, in some cases followed by appropriate remedial action, to ensure that systems are protected from known and potential threats and are free from known vulnerabilities.

  • Participate in On-Call rotation for after-hours support

  • Assist and train team members in the use of security tools, the preparation of security reports and the resolution of security issues.

  • Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as, meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrate respect for others

  • All work responsibilities are subject to having performance goals and/or targets established

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or business administration; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • One or more certifications such as Security+, CISSP, GSEC, CEH, or CISM, preferred

Experience:

  • Three years' supporting enterprise-class systems

  • Three years' Server operating systems experience, preferably Windows Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux

  • Three years' Public Cloud experience with Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Software as a Service solutions

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):

  • Knowledge of information security principles, including risk assessment and management, threat and vulnerability management, incident response, and identity and access management.

  • Experience in developing, documenting and maintaining security procedures.

  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, storage, virtualization, and associated network protocols and concepts.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
