  • Installs, maintains, and repairs mechanical and electrical equipment, fixtures, outlets, and panels.
  • Troubleshoots, installs, and repairs wiring, including control wiring within National electric code.
  • Installs and lays out electrical conduits.
  • Inspects electrical safety equipment such as emergency and infrared. 
  • Reviews, researches, and orders electrical parts from vendors with consideration of availability, cost, product value, warranty periods, and ease of installation.
  • Responds and resolves electrical emergency situations.
  • Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.


  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  • Four years of experience in the electrical trade at the journeyman level.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license or the ability to obtain a Florida driver’s license within 30 days of employment, with acceptable driving record.

Florida State Electrician's License.


  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
  • Knowledge of standard electrical equipment, materials and tools and electrical safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical circuits and diagrams.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical problems.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong MS Office 365 skills (Outlook, Word) and ability to become proficient in MS Teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Committed to working in a multicultural environment.  


  • May be required to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • May be assigned to various campus locations.
  • Required to drive College vehicles.
  • Works inside and outside with exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Handles hazardous materials and equipment.
  • Exposure to voltages up to 480 volts.
  • Must wear protective gear when required.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds, unassisted.
  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces and climb ladders.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
