Description:The Strategic Planning Senior Staff for the S&GS LOB will be responsible for developing strategies for new business capture, and identifying and executing profitable growth opportunities by assessing the competitive landscape. This individual will be analyzing the LOB's capabilities and competencies, and ensuring investment resources are aligned with the strategy. The Strategic Planner will lead the development and communication of the New Business Acquisition Expenditure (NBAE) investment plan, Long Range Plan, and Order Campaign Management reviews. This position will report to the Deputy for Air Weapons and Sensors, Strategy & Business Development but will interface heavily with a broad section of Executive Leadership. As a Strategic Planner in the S&GS LOB, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading a wide variety of strategic projects that build upon the Lockheed Martin Corporate Strategy Themes, the enterprise Strategy Tenets and Strategic Priorities. The Strategic Planning Manager will coordinate efforts across multiple Program Areas and functional areas to diagnose complex strategic issues, identify appropriate S&GS LOB goals, and make informed recommendations to senior stakeholders. The role will manage multiple projects and enterprise-level deliverables from concept phase to delivery in coordination with Business Development, Engineering, Production Operations, Program Management, Finance, and other key stakeholders.

This role requires an executive presence, a large degree of self-direction and the ability to drive items to closure with a variety of stakeholders, ranging from peers to executive leadership. The role may also support special projects including strategic partnerships, mergers & acquisitions analysis, color teams Lockheed Martin Venture investments, and other high visibility strategic projects.

What You Will Be Doing


  • Planning and execution of the S&GS annual strategic planning cycle
  • Lead the LOB-wide development of the NBAE investment plan and coordination of approvals with all key stakeholders
  • Manage all approvals for Bid & Proposal and Independent Research & Development projects via the Electronic Technology Investment Planning (e-Tip) Tool
  • Lead the LOB-wide development of the Long Range Orders Plan and conduct reviews with executive leadership
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of the Orders Campaign Management reviews with executive leadership
  • Leadership of ad-hoc strategy projects and analyses for executive leaders
  • Drive culture change and process improvement by partnering with key stakeholders across functional boundaries
  • Responsible for streamlining recurring business processes and integrating workflows into MFC Bridge where appropriate, coordinating with Business Development, Finance and the MFC enterprise team
  • Partner with Operations Analysis and Advanced Programs to drive mission-level and campaign-level analysis identifying key relevant future sensing and other mission system gaps that leverage S&GS core competencies
  • Support Program and LOB level Business Case development and reviews in coordination with Business Development, Finance, Program Management, and other key stakeholders
  • Support development of LOB strategic plan and LOB VP program strategy packages and associated program and technical roadmaps
  • Identify growth opportunities through market, business case, and strategic analysis
  • Management, training, and development of staff analysts

Basic Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to work and gain credibility with executive leadership, Line of business leaders and customers.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organizational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with and lead a diverse team of experts to accomplish demanding tasks in limited timeframes
  • Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance, US citizenship required

    Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
    Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
    Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
