Responsibilities

Claims Manager will be responsible for directing work of Claims Adjusters on property/casualty claims, who determine liability, secure and obtain information and data, review coverage, arrange property damage appraisals and reserve and settle claims based on claim standards and practices.

Key Functions will include but not be limited to:

  • Participate in the development of the strategic plan for Claims
  • Apply claims and target market knowledge to identify how the organization can meet customer claim service needs
  • Manage claim department resources to deliver customized claim service that is specific to the customer's business needs
  • Contribute to profitability by effectively implementing Claims Best Practices to manage loss payments and claim expenses to achieve best financial result
  • Drive automation of key processes to realize cost, time, and accuracy and/or quality improvements
  • Work cooperatively across claim teams to ensure coordination of services and sharing of best practices
  • Help establish, monitor and adhere to claim and corporate operations budget
  • Develop, implement and monitor office workflows
  • Provide technical oversight and direction for the highest level complex claim matters in specified area of responsibility
  • Review and respond to authority requests from Claim professionals on supervised claim matters
  • Partner with claim leadership to develop and drive claim resolution strategies
  • Provide subject matter expertise on claim technical and litigated issues
  • Act as key decision maker in determining the value of claims, development of resolution strategies and identifying what resources are needed to execute that strategy and ultimate the manner of disposition
  • Help produce business opportunities with major customer/producers in conjunction with underwriting unit
  • Develop strategic customer/producer relationships; develop relationships with contacts with specialized expertise who can be called on for assistance and who will alert CCIG to developing issues
  • Identify opportunities and risks associated with changes in the external environment, looking forward 2–5 years
  • Recommend changes to policies, systems, products/services to leadership team
  • Ensure that appropriate documentation, implementation and communication of established policy, procedures and operating standards is completed for area of responsibility; regularly monitors and evaluates activities to identify potential risks and issues of non-compliance.
  • Oversee use of performance management process in area of responsibility and complete performance management cycle for direct reports
  • Implement people management strategy and resource plan to support the business
  • Optimize staff development and retention in area of responsibility
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all aspects of the position
Qualifications
  • BA Degree
  • 8+ years of commercial auto
  • 1+ years management
  • Self-motivated and results oriented
